The success continues in 2008!

CAP - The Career Awareness Project is an extension of the foundations' successful Career Awareness Day Program. The success of the program continues to expose more students to an array of career opportunities. The PMJ Foundation's first 21 students graduated this past fall and eleven new students from Lansdowne Elementary School of the Baltimore County Public School System started April 2008. With your support the Foundation will provide hands-on opportunities to our young people.

Career Awareness Day 2008 at Loyola College
Saturday July 19, 2008 Noon - 4pm

Through the Career Awareness Day, the Foundation works to fulfill their mission. The Career Awareness Day brings numerous professionals under one roof to speak to young people and provide information regarding career opportunities. This year's Career Awareness Day will offer workshops, panel discussions, informational displays, and a keynote luncheon address. Young people will be recruited for attendance from inner city schools, summer youth programs at area churches, disadvantaged domestic situations, YMCA and city parks and recreation programs. In addition, young people from Preston Mitchum, Jr. Foundation's partner organizations such as James Mosher Baseball League, Baltimore County DSS and On Our Shoulders, will also be invited to attend.

Our 4th Annual Career Awareness Day will be held at Loyola College on Saturday July 19, 2008 in Maguire Hall from Noon-4pm. In 2007, this event reached over 80 young people from across the Baltimore metropolitan area and provided an inspirational day filled with information and opportunity. Our hope and aim of the event is to motivate over 100 young people by providing detailed information on planning for and securing a productive and optimistic future. Twenty professionals from a variety of backgrounds provided real life accounts and encouragement for obtaining positions in their industries and fields. Our professionals covered the fields of education, media, healthcare, aerospace, Army Corps of Engineers, and law enforcement.

If you have a group who would benefit from the Career Awareness day, please email us at info@pmjfoundation.org. Space is limited and we will accommodate requests on a first come first serve basis. Do your part! Become a sponsor of the Career Awareness Day. Please see our proposal/gift form for information about how you can make a difference in the lives of youth in Baltimore!

Honorary Members of the Month - The PMJ Team

The Foundation would like to honor The PMJ Team for their determination to help Maryland families. The Foundation seeks to empower the entire Baltimore community, especially high-risk youth and families through food, clothing and back to school drives. In addition, video documentaries are created to address these social issues with raw reality and shining hope. Our staff of volunteers performs so many duties such as writing press releases, grants, building and maintaining business and media contacts, organizing donation drives and fundraisers. Our team has been dedicated to making an impact in our community for over four years. With encouraged community support, our growth will help continue to make that impact. We honor them for their dedication and it is the support of community members like them that help make a difference.
