Community donations have helped over 24,000 men, women, and children since inception. The campaigns are donation drives, which provide homeless and transitional shelters with the necessities for individuals and families. The Preston Mitchum, Jr. Foundation is committed to encouraging others to help people in need. There are two yearly drives - a Back to School Drive from July through August to collect school supplies, and another drive for the Holiday season from November through December. With the help of our partners, both annual drives are supported throughout the state.
YOU MADE 2013 A GREAT YEAR!
The Preston Mitchum Jr. Foundation sincerely thanks you, all of our sponsors, volunteers, parents, and professionals for their part in serving our families. We couldn't have done it without your support.
This past summer, we collected and distributed book bags, lunch boxes, notebooks, paper, pens, pencils, and other school-related items. More than 1,900 students ranging from ages 5 to 17 received fundamental tools required to give them a great start as they head for success.
Our Career Awareness Project (CAP) after-school program provided Baltimore's youth access to a variety of potential career opportunities and educational choices that otherwise may not be within their daily experience. The CAP program is currently in its seventh year and over 450 students have participated from Baltimore County and City Public Schools. With community support, the foundation will expand CAP in additional schools in 2014.
The PMJ Foundation's 4th Annual Essay Contest received hundreds of essays from 5th and 6th grade students throughout the state of Maryland who expressed their creative writing abilities. The essay contest encouraged participants to challenge their creative thought process and exercise their writing skills to further enrich their communication skills.
This holiday season, we served hundreds of men, women, and children. We were able to distribute clothing, food, school supplies, toys, personal hygiene, and teen specialty items to many families from Baltimore City and County. Special thanks to our CAP kids and families for sorting and wrapping the items!
Please take a few minutes to view our website, www.PMJFoundation.org for details on our new initiatives to help the Baltimore community. Our foundation helps families year-round and your on-going financial and in-kind support is needed. It is because of the support of community members like you that we are able to make a difference in the community!

"I don't think you ever stop giving. I really don't. I think it's an on-going process. And it's not just about being able to write a check. It's being able to touch somebody's life."
