The PMJ Foundation is proud to announce the "1st Annual Preston Mitchum, Jr. Foundation Essay Contest" as part of the PMJ Foundation's commitment to "educate, empower and provide a vision of a brighter future for youth." The PMJ Foundation understands the importance of exercising reading and writing critical-thinking skills to communicate effectively in our daily lives. This essay contest will encourage participants to challenge their creative thought process and exercise their writing skills to further enrich their communication skills.

Essay contest participants must use their creative writing skills to submit an essay on one of the following topics:

• Family...What does it mean to you?
• Power to Change...What "one" thing would you like to change about our world?
• Volunteerism...Why is volunteerism important to you and/or the community?
• World Events…How were you affected by the earthquake in Haiti? What, if any Haiti relief efforts have you been involved with to provide your support?
