The Preston Mitchum, Jr. Foundation (PMJ Foundation) thanks every student that participated in our "1st Annual Preston Mitchum, Jr. Foundation Essay Contest" as part of the PMJ Foundation's commitment to "educate, empower and provide a vision of a brighter future for youth." The PMJ Foundation received hundreds of applications from students throughout the state of Maryland. Wow!

The PMJ Foundation understands the importance of exercising reading, writing, and critical-thinking skills to communicate effectively in our daily lives. This essay contest encouraged participants to challenge their creative thought process and exercise their writing skills to further enrich their communication skills.

Our 5th and 6th grade winners are listed below. We thank everyone for their continued support of our on-going goal to provide opportunities for young people to succeed.
